January 19th, 2001 ~ Day 5

A Winter Watercolor Workshop with Monte Guynes

Monte's Final Painting

For the painting on Friday, we wet the paper on both sides and followed
along with Monte as he demonstrated his wet in wet landscape technique
as he had done on Monday. He emphasized getting values dark enough and even
went so far as squeezing paint directly from the tube to the paper at one point.
At critique time, it was evident that much progress had been made by the group.

The paintings and the participants all seemed to mirror Monte's enthusiasm.
There was a positive energy in the room that had been building all week and by
Friday afternoon it was just too obvious to ignore. Everyone seemed to be beaming with it.

"There is real magic in enthusiasm.
It spells the difference between mediocrity and accomplishment."

Monte Handed out questionnaires at the end of the workshop
and the results were overwhelmingly positive.
