September 27th 2007 ~ Goals / Hummingbirds & Columbine
Dear Friends ~
We are never too old to dream a new dream
or to set a new goal. In order to
make our dreams become reality, we must be willing to do what
ever it takes
to make it happen. Hard work and dedication to our plan are key
ingredients.
Action is paramount, as good thoughts are nothing more than wishful
thinking, unless they are executed through focused effort.

Goals
Quotations:
"One should not pursue goals
that are easily achieved. One must develop an instinct
for what one can just barely achieve through one's greatest efforts."
~ Albert Einstein
"Setting a goal is not the main
thing. It is deciding how you will go about achieving
it and staying with that plan." ~ Tom Landry
"My goal is to never quit."
~ Andrew McDermott
"You can't achieve anything unless
you are aiming at a specific target." ~ Jack H. McQuaig

September 24th 2007 ~ Obsession / Hummingbird & Columbine
Dear Friends ~
I'm obsessed with my art. I admit it.
It is something I have to do, just as I have to breathe, eat
and sleep. The intensity with which I go about my work, I give
to no other aspect of my life.
I must go on painting because I wouldn't be able to go on without
it.

Obsession
Quotations:
"I think only of my painting,
and if I were to drop it, I think I'd go crazy." ~ Claude
Monet
"A day without painting, or at
least thinking of something to paint, is a day without breathing."
~ Luz Maria Perez
"I do not pursue art. It pursues
me. It dogs me throughout my day and never rests.
It is the beast I must feed that is never content. I did not
choose to be an artist, to create, to
express what is in my head. It chose me and I am its slave."
~ Toni Ciserella
"The only difference between
an artist and a lunatic is, perhaps, that the artist
has the restraint or courtesy to conceal the intensity of his
obsession from all except those
similarly afflicted." ~ Osbert Sitwell

September 20th 2007 ~ Imagination / Eagles
Dear Friends ~
Some people think that imagination is
synonymous with unreality. I believe
nothing can be further from the truth. Imagination gives birth
to new realities
and a deeper more rewarding existence. The truth is that imagination
and
inspiration produce an enthusiasm which precedes the flight of
one's soul.

Imagination
Quotations:
"If one is lucky, a solitary
fantasy can totally transform one million realities." ~
Maya Angelou
"Imagination is more important
than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination
encircles the world." ~ Albert Einstein
"It is the marriage of the soul
with Nature that makes the intellect fruitful, and gives birth
to
imagination." ~ Henry David Thoreau
"Imagination is the beginning
of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you
imagine, and at last you create what you will." ~ George
Bernard Shaw

September 17th 2007 ~ Vision / Eagles
Dear Friends ~
Eagles represent a connection to the Great
Spirit. In many ancient cultures, these birds have
been personifications of visionary strength and messengers of
divine power. Soaring higher
than any living creature, binocular vision enables raptors to
observe life in its entirety.
They may appear when a spark is needed to inspire your courage,
stamina and creativity.

Vision
No vision and you perish,
No ideal, and you're lost
Your heart must ever cherish
Some faith at any cost.
A hope, a dream to cling to,
Some rainbow in the sky,
A melody to sing to,
Some service that is high.
~ Harriet du Autermont

by successful people in all walks of life. It's a way
of changing negative images to the positive." ~ Marisa D'Vari

September 13th 2007 ~ Power / Eagles
Dear Friends ~
One of the greatest compliments I receive
about my work is when someone says; "it is powerful".
To be able to convey feelings for which there are no words, is
a challenge and my ultimate goal.
It is estimated that the average American child is spending six
hours a day in front of a screen, be
it a computer or TV and that their time spent outdoors has decreased
more than 50% over previous
generations. It worries me that a connection to nature is being
lost along with the mystery, grace
and interconnectedness of all living things. My hope is that
the power of my work can help to
foster a healthy curiosity, an awareness and love for the outdoors
and for all our fellow creatures.
One of the most important things we can do is to take our children
outside and to experience
with them, all the wonders and power of the natural world.

Power Quotations:
"When an object or painting ceases
to be a painting for a viewer and becomes an experience,
that is an epiphany. That is the great power of art." ~
Coulter Watt
"Our scientific power has outrun
our spiritual power.
We have guided missiles and misguided men." ~Martin Luther
King Jr.
"The artist has a power of influence
far beyond the apparent power that sways him, and a responsibility
to remain cognizant of his role, especially as the world spirals
deeper into materialism. Without the
artist performing at his highest level the world is all but lost."
~ Karen Randall

September 10th 2007 ~ Impossibilities / Hummingbirds
Dear Friends ~
The warm summer months brought with them
hoards of hummingbirds to my feeders.
Easily numbering over a hundred this year, I kept a record and
went through over seventy five
pounds of sugar since their arrival in late April. There is still
a flurry of activity outside my windows,
however most adults have already left on their twice a year seemingly
unattainable migration. A
constant inspiration to me, the hummingbird's dedication and
focus is an intense symbol
of attaining that which seems impossible.

Impossibilities Quotations:
"It is difficult to say what
is impossible, for the dream of yesterday is the hope of today
and the reality of tomorrow." ~ Robert H. Goddard
"So many dreams at first seem
impossible. And then they seem improbable.
And then when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable."
~ Christopher Reeve
"Impossibility; a word only to
be found in the dictionary of fools." ~ Napoleon Bonaparte
- from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
"There is no use trying, said Alice; one can't believe impossible
things. I dare say you haven't
had much practice, said the Queen. When I was your age, I always
did it for half an hour a day.
Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things
before breakfast." ~ Lewis Carroll

September 6th 2007 ~ Family / Elephants
Dear Friends ~
Elephants represent strong family ties
and people with this totem are usually very sensitive
and nurturing. I've got a few "elephant people" that
write in on a regular basis. They always
say the right things to brighten my day. Thanks to them and everyone
else for all the get well
wishes. It's working! My affliction is running its course and
I'm getting better everyday.
