April 30th, 2007 ~ Nature / Hummingbirds
Dear Friends ~
Our hummingbirds have started to return
this past week! Yard Dog, our alpha, accompanied by three
other males and several females have been eagerly visiting all
four feeders. I expect many more in the
next couple of weeks. My husband made me a little wire cage which
I filled with cotton balls and
hung in a nearby tree. Email me if you'd like a copy of the plans.
Hopefully the hens will use some
of the cotton in the construction of their nests. Then we will
be able to spot them this year. I'm thrilled
that my little buddies have come back to us in such good shape
after their incredibly long journey.
It feels good to have their amazing presence and joyful spirit
so close to me once again.

Study nature, love nature, stay close
to nature. It will never fail you. (Frank Lloyd Wright)

April 26th, 2007 ~ Memory / Elephants
Dear Friends ~
It has been said that elephants never
forget. I have seen documentaries about how they return to
the grave sites of deceased relatives and inspect and caress
their bones. They also remember obscure
watering holes and seldom used migration routes during times
of drought. Representing strong family
bonds and matriarchal influences, we should remember that creatures
like elephants can offer us
insights, guidance and the inspiration to live a richer life
that is more attuned to the vibrations
and power of the universe.

Here are some quotations on Memory:
When I was younger, I could remember
anything whether it happened or not. But I am getting old,
and soon I shall remember only the latter. (Mark Twain)
History is the ship carrying living
memories into the future. (Stephen Spender)
Music, when soft voices die, vibrates
in the memory. (Percy Bysshe Shelley)
We do not remember days, we remember
moments. (Cesare Parvese)

April 23rd, 2007 ~ Earth / Dandelion
Dear Friends ~
Sunday, April 22 was Earth Day. I hope
you all had a chance to show your appreciation for
our Mother Earth by participating in some outside activity this
weekend. It was just gorgeous here
in the North East as temperatures climbed above 70 degrees both
days. I sketched this lovely
Dandelion clump outside, took a photo, then did a small watercolor
in the studio. I hope you enjoy
Earth Week and seek out the beauty of our natural world.
===<<>>===
Here are some quotations on Earth:
Earth laughs in flowers. (Ralph Waldo
Emerson)
We are on the planet to... wrap our
consciousness around the divine treasure within us.
(Dr. Michael Beckwith)
I have no country to fight for; my
country is the earth, and I am a citizen of the world.
(Eugene V. Debs)
The world is so empty if one thinks
only of mountains, rivers and cities; but to know someone
here and there who thinks and feels with us, and though distant,
is close to us in spirit; this makes the
earth for us an inhabited garden. (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe)

April 19th, 2007 ~ Belief / Deer
DDear Friends,
As you know, I've been healing my belief
systems and thought process as I rehabilitate my
fractures. Through the power of good feelings and positive thought
control, I am attracting
amazing abundance and joy into my life. By becoming more aware
of the laws of attraction
and universal energy, opportunities for improvement and personal
growth abound.
===<<>>===
Here are some quotations on Belief:
Like attracts like. Whatever the conscious
mind thinks and believes, the subconscious
identically creates. (Brian Adams)
The one seeking to demonstrate the
power of spiritual realization in everyday affairs should
believe in Divine guidance... and that everything in life is
controlled by love, harmony,
and peace. (Ernest Holmes)
A picture lives by its legend; not
by anything else. (Pablo Picasso)
The future belongs to those who believe
in the beauty of their dreams. (Eleanor Roosevelt)

April 16th ~ Wonder / Crow
Dear Friends ~
For the last three weeks, starting the
day I got hurt, I have had two very large, noisy crows
conspicuously present in my yard. The number two represents patience
and Crow's predominant
powers are those of healing and change in consciousness. Black
is the color of the great void and
home of ancestor spirits. These birds are messengers from that
realm and are considered a good sign
of magic and protection. They affirm my path and open my eyes
and mind to the
wonder and spirit of Universal Guidance.
===<<>>===
Here are some quotes on Wonder:
The world will never starve for want
of wonders, but for want of wonder. (G. K. Chesterton)
We artists have this deep sense of
wonder that arose in our childhood and has dominated our lives.
This
is what makes us all very special people, no matter what our
level of pictorial interpretation. (Leonard Niles)
It's good to wish for and look forward
to the wondrous things in life. (Mary Smart)
The true wonder of the world is available
everywhere, in the minutest parts of our bodies, in the vast
expanses of the cosmos, and in the interconnectedness of these
and all things. (Michael Stark)
Artists and poets try to recapture
and recreate the wonder that we all remember feeling as children.
Maybe that's why we are called visionary. (Marney Ward)

April 12th ~ Spirit / Deer
DearDear Friends ~
My accident has provided a great revelation
for me. Universal guidance was largely at play here.
I now see how important it was to slow down in order for me to
grow spiritually. I have concrete
evidence which was presented in the form of two large matching
antler sheds. They were gifted
to me on the morning of my accident, side by side in a most unusual
and deliberate placement.
They were found on the East side of my property, symbolizing
new beginnings. They were facing
North which represents wisdom. The number two represents patience
and as in all antlered species,
the deer's rack is symbolic of antennae which provide heightened
perception and a connection to the
divine. It was not until my healing got under way that I could
see this as a powerful gift from spirit.
===<<>>===
From two of our members, here are
some quotes on Spirit:
In stillness I hear spirit's voice,
not universal clutter. (Rev Kathy Graves)
Perhaps this is your time to think,
to rest, meditation time to learn more oneness
with the Universe. (Jean Kitchens)
Busy keeps us from spirit's whisper.
(Rev Kathy Graves)
It's healing time on a much deeper
level. (Jean Kitchens)

April 9th ~ Healing / Secret
Dear Friends ~
I am so fortunate that I'm able to keep
drawing and painting during my convalescence. Art
is powerful medicine! Some pieces are created specifically with
healing in mind. After my
forth set of x-rays and my third visit to the orthopedic surgeon
today, the doctor said it
looks like I'm "out of the woods". Yippee! No surgery
for me! I know that believing I am
already healed helped. By practicing the principles of the "Secret"
and focusing my thought
energy on the laws of attraction, I'm experiencing more abundance
and joy than ever!
Everything does happen for a reason. The apostle Paul said, "Be
transformed by the
renewal of your mind." Right now, I'm experiencing just
that.
May You Attract Abundance Always,
Sandy

Here are some quotes on Healing:
The pursuit of art on a regular basis
may be the key to healing our minds and bodies.
(Kim Blair)
Strong, pure and happy thoughts build
up the body in vigor and grace.
(James Allen)
Art heals by changing a person's physiology
and attitude. It takes you 'away
to some other place. (Barbara Timberman)
The best doctors in the world are
Doctor Diet, Doctor Quiet, and Doctor Merryman.

April 2nd ~ Solitude
Dear Friends ~
While recuperating from my accident, I've
been spending more time than ever alone
Solitude's not a bad thing. The hard part is not being busy and
productive in my isolation.
Frustration keeps me at bay as I try to continue my work and
keep up with simple
daily tasks. Lessons in patience have never come easily for me.
In many ways,
I have no choice this time. Again, your friendship and well wishes
are appreciated.
===<<>>===
Here are some quotes on Solitude:
Solitary trees, if they grow at all,
grow strong. (Sir Winston Churchill)
Amid those scenes of solitude... the
mind is cast into the contemplation of eternal
things. (Thomas Cole)
The isolation of being in my studio
capsule is like being in bed, pulling the
covers over my head and shutting out the rest of the world. (Shirley
Erskine)
If you are idle, be not solitary;
if you are solitary, be not idle. (Samuel Johnson)
As a child I was often drawing when
other children were playing outside. The time
I spent alone taught me to enjoy my own company, an attribute
which is desirable
when choosing a career in art. (Kathryn Mullaney)
Solitude is the furnace of transformation. (Henri Nouwen)
